FIRST REMISSION MAY 2009

A lot has happened since the trip to Tasmania. Finally, after going around in circles all in the wrong direction, an Orthopedic Surgeon finally diagnosed the problem and it was not good news - Leukaemia AML.

But at least we knew now what we were dealing with and the wonderful team at St George Hospital have been treating Scott since February.

But the journey is only starting.

We thought the chemo and the septic shower that almost killed Scott were the hard part. We now find out that the next step along this journey is a bone marrow transplant at St Vincents if we can find a compatible donor.

THE WAY WE WERE

This is us, note the altitude of Ian,
my hair length and "bulk".

We were getting ready for our trip to Tasmania, but Scott was in a lot of pain that we put down to his exisiting back injury.

TASSIE ADVENTURE

The Kids were promised a trip to Tasmania. With great gusto they accepted. Jessica ended being too busy. (Nohting to do with lack of room!)_It was great to have a lovely friend of Ian's, Bree!

One of the highlights of our trip was going to be camping on the beach near the Bay of Fires. This has been voted one of the best places to visit this year by Lonely Planet and we wanted to experience this.

Judy knew something had to be wrong when Scott said he could not camp, but we still had many other great expericences - even the self guided tour of the Lavender Farm.

Looking back now I dont't know how Scott managed to drive almost non-stop from Hobart on FRiday morning to the top of Tasmania at Devonport, then on the Ferry, then onto Sydney on Saturday when he was obviously not well. But we still put it down to "back problems".

THE TRAVELLING

We have travelled extensively throughout Australia's non-city tourist areas. We will leave the city tourist spots for when we can't travel to the good bits. This is near Newnes, Bathurst NSW. A rare opprtinity to get the kids together for a photo with someone competent behind the camera. Well done Nathan!
